Seafood? Finest at Sea is a Must See

Finest at Sea is a little gem that the casual tourist might overlook, however, if seafood is your thing you gotta stop here! A favorite of locals, this establishment offers fresh, daily catch, seasonal seafood. Walk around to the back of the shop and see the mongers hard at work. You'll see tanks of live mussels and oysters and view fresh caught salmon, halibut, or whatever happens to be in season. Feeling hungry? Look no further than the driveway for the Finest at Sea food cart where you can enjoy an amazing salmon burger, fish and chips and cool off with a local soda. For yours truly, this is a favorite stop at the end of a long bike ride along Dallas Road. I'll often grab a salmon burger and park myself on the grass in the park just across the street.

Fish Tacos Anyone? Easy... You NEED to Visit Red Fish Bluefish

Wondering what does Victoria have in common with San Diego, California? They both are home to many establishments that serve up killer fish tacos! If you have fish on your mind for lunch or dinner and you don't mind sitting outside soaking up an amazing view then you MUST visit Red Fish Bluefish, a local favorite.  Located on the docks in the inner harbour (right next to the harbour sea plane docks) this must-visit place is aa very cozy street food style establishment that boasts absolutely incredible fish tacos errr Tacone... (salmon, halibut and whatever else is in season) as well as fish and chips, and a super seafood choder with a distinctly Thai spin on it. On a sunny day the lineup may look a little daunting but given the location, on the water with incredible views, street entertainers and more, the wait is definitely worth it. Eat like a local but please remember, don't feed the seagulls or you'll likely get some glares from the locals!

YYJ Foodie Tip - Looking for Pasta? You Gotta Try Pagliacci's

Here's the scenario, you've walked around the downtown city core for a couple of hours and you are now STARVING for some pasta. Then you ask yourself, "well, I wonder where the locals would go?" Definitely a great question and the answer is simple.. Pagliacci's. Known as "Pags" to locals, this popular spot is a must visit for anyone wanting to experience some of the best of Victoria. Pag's has been around for decades and boasts a very simple, fun, and vibrant place that offers fantastic food at a reasonable price. Be warned though, if you don't want to wait in line for 10-20 minutes and are looking for something quiet then this may not be for you... oh, and expect to be pretty close to the table next door... but that can also be a good thing!

The menu boasts daily features, plenty of vegetarian options and the daily soup and home made focaccia bread is to die for... get the bottomless bowl.. trust me! Pag's has a distinctive New York city vibe going on and is a favorite of fans and lovers of the arts. Perhaps the best lunch spot in town but you can also go for dinner as well - you may even get a free glass of wine while you wait in line at night - enjoy!

Things to do in Victoria BC - Fisherman's Wharf

If walking around, mingling, eating, soaking up some sun, and feeding the local seals sounds like fun then a visit to Fisherman's Wharf is for you! A short walk (about 1 km from Ship's Point cruise ship terminal) you'll find the popular destination known as Fisherman's Wharf. The popular public space is vibrant, particularly when the sun is shining. Connected by pedestrian paths, bicycle lanes, and bus routes, the Wharf boasts some great food options (think ice cream, Mexican food, and fish and chips). The colorful float homes also offer some terrific photo opportunities and you can even rent a kayak, hop on a water taxi or sign up for a private excursion on the water. It's also a great place to have a picnic in the park or just hang out and people watch.

Note:  Fisherman’s Wharf is located just around the corner from Victoria’s Inner Harbour or just a 10 minute walk from the Ogden Point cruise ship terminal.  Enter off St. Lawrence Street or Dallas Road.
